Supplement 2 — Performing to Potential

The St. Louis Gamers Blue trailed 5-3 in the 6th but managed three runs to escape with a 6-5 victory.  Kade Burns (2017, Edwardsville, IL) had the game winning RBI single to left field that scored Bryant Thompson (2017, St. Louis, MO).  Jacob Teichmeier (2017, Ravenna, NE), Jack Riney (2017, Wildwood, MO), Weston Schad (2017, St. Charles, MO), and Ben Maurer (2017, Waterloo, IL) all had RBIs for the Gamers. John Bischoff (2017, Brentwood, MO) had a triple to right field in the bottom of the 4th.  The Gamers remain undefeated at 6-0.  

The Dayton Sluggers dropped to 3-3 on the tournament.  Damon Dues (2017, Dayton, OH) went 2-3 with a RBI and Alex Jacobs (2017, Huntsville, OH) went 1-3 with two RBIs.

The St. Louis Gamers Blue and the RIPS Brewers played to a 7-7 draw Wednesday at Cambridge High School.  

Harry Hegeman (2017, St. Louis, MO) and Tyler Ehrlich (2017, O Fallon, MO) both went 2-3 with a double and a RBI for the Gamers.  Hegemen also recorded two stolen bases.  From the outfield, Hegeman takes good routes and covers a lot of ground with his speed. 

Weston Schad (2017, St. Charles, MO) contributed by going 1-2 with a triple and a RBI.  Behind the plate Schad has a strong, accurate arm.

Jacob Hirsh (2016, Burien, WA) went 3-4 with a triple and two RBIs for the Brewers.  Seth Delgado (2017, Kent, WA) got his fourth hit of the tournament by going 1-3 with a RBI and Festus Gilligan (2016, Seattle, WA) went 1-3 with a RBI.

The St. Louis Gamers Blue moved past the HCYP Raiders on Thursday morning, 1-0 behind the strong pitching performance by starter Craig Theiss (2017, Desoto Senior HS, MO). Theiss threw a complete game shut-out for the winners, allowing only 4 hits in the game. He showed great command of his pitches by throwing 67% for strikes and was rewarded with 6 strikeouts. His good fastball was on display, averaging a velocity of 74-79 mph with a maximum velocity of 80 mph.

Bryce Butler (2016, Wentzville Holt HS, MO) had the big hit of the game for St. Louis and drove in the game’s only run, driving in Jack Riney (2017, Lafayette Senior HS, MO).

Jack Schroeder (2017, Mount Hebron HS, MD) led the Raider’s offensively with a 2-3 game. Reed Galloway (2017, Marriotts Ridge HS, MD) and Jack Harrell (2016, Catonsville HS, MD) recorded the team’s other hits. 

Schroeder also started on the mound for the Raiders and was very impressive despite getting the loss. He too threw a complete game, allowing 1 run on 7 hits, while striking out 4.

The Arena STARZ defeated the St. Louis Gamers Blue 11-6 in seven innings.
Ethan Gallagher (2017, Cantonsville, MD) led the surge for the STARZ came in the clutch with a home run and a single in the game. He drove in four RBIs and scored twice. He showed a quick, short bat with an aggressive hitters mentality. Jeremy Arocho (2017, Glen Burnie, MD) led the team in hits with three singles and score twice. Raphael Baumgardner (2017, Rockville, MD) roped out with a pair of hits with a double and a single. He also drove in two runs and and scored once while drawing two walks. Randy Bednar (2017, Damascus, MD) contributed a two RBI day with a single and a run. E’Lan Goodwin (2016, Bristow, MD) also helped with a pair of hits with a RBI and a run.

Joey Goodwin (2017, Rockville, MD) pitched most of the game by going five innings. He scattered four hits with two runs to score on him. He only struck out one and walked one batter. He touched 80 mph with his fastball. 

Both John Bischoff (2017, Brentwood, MO) and Mark Vierling (2017, St. Louis, MO) each contributed a hit each with two RBIs and a run. Weston Schad (2017, St. Charles, MO) helped with two doubles and a RBI. Kade Burns (2017, Edwardsville, IL) also joined in with a double and a single while scoring twice.
